Royal Oak's Dermatology Skin Cancer Page
|
The most common skin cancer is Basal Cell Cancers. The second most common is Squamous Cell Cancer. Both of these resembles many of the "moles", and "age spots" that older people have. How can you tell if you have one??
If you are light skinned, burn easily, and have had sun exposure frequently as a child or an adult - you are at risk for these common skin cancer. A full skin exam performed by a qualified dermatologist can be done to screen for these cancer.
You can follow these links to see what skin cancer can look like. Squamous cell cancer also has other names - Keratoacanthoma, Erythroplasia of Querat, and Bowens disease. Some of the photos here are labeled with the alternative name for the variants of squamous cell cancers. These variants are generally "milder" or "less aggressive" than the infiltrative squamous cell cancers.
Dr. Pham is more than willing to give talk or lectures to church groups, school, or other interested organization on the topics of skin cancer, skin care, acne, and zoonotic diseases. Please call him to arrange a time and the topic.
